Kaagapay sa Kalinga: Bringing Healthcare Within Reach Through LAB for All

On two separates yet deeply connected days—March 17 in Marikina City and March 24 in Santa Rosa, Laguna—something quietly powerful unfolded. Public sports complexes, often filled with cheers and competition, transformed into spaces of care and compassion. At the Marikina Sports Center and the Santa Rosa Multipurpose Sports Complex, long lines formed not for entertainment, but for something far more vital: accessible healthcare.
From early morning to late afternoon, families, senior citizens, and expectant mothers patiently waited their turn. They came for free laboratory tests, medical consultations, prenatal check-ups, and basic health services—opportunities that, for many, are often postponed due to financial constraints.
Yet beyond the services provided, what truly defined these days were the personal stories—of worry eased, burdens lifted, and hope renewed.

A Mother’s Quiet Relief
Among the many faces in the crowd was Evelyn Ballaran, a 40-year-old mother of three, now eight months pregnant with her fourth child. Seated carefully near the prenatal section, she carried not only the weight of her pregnancy but also the uncertainty that often accompanies it.
“Malapit na po akong manganak kaya mas kinakabahan ako,” she shared. “Hindi laging madali magpa-check-up kapag may ibang gastusin sa bahay.”
For Evelyn, the chance to consult with medical professionals brought immediate reassurance. But what made the experience truly meaningful came after her check-up.
Through the support of Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc., a key Kaagapay of the LAB for All initiative, she received free medicines on-site—removing yet another layer of worry.
“Mas nakakagaan po sa loob,” she said softly. “Hindi na ako mag-aalala kung saan kukuha ng gamot. Nakakatulong talaga sa mga kagaya kong buntis.”

Beyond Consultation: A Continuum of Care
The involvement of Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. added a vital dimension to the initiative. LAB for All was not just about diagnosis—it became a model of continuity of care. Patients did not leave with prescriptions alone; they left with the treatment they needed in hand.
For countless families, this meant fewer delays, less uncertainty, and a clearer path to recovery.
Across both locations, volunteers and healthcare professionals worked tirelessly, attending to hundreds of patients each day. Elderly residents had their vital signs monitored, parents sought advice for recurring illnesses, and pregnant women received long-overdue prenatal care.

Ensuring Safety, Building Trust
In Marikina, the scale of the event required seamless coordination. The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of Police Colonel Jenny Tecson, played a key role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of attendees.
Officers were stationed at entry and exit points, assisting vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, pregnant women, and children, while coordinating closely with organizers for efficient crowd management.
Tecson emphasized the importance of collaboration, acknowledging the support of the local government led by Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro and City Administrator Mark Castro.
She concluded with a message of gratitude: a reminder that initiatives like these succeed not through a single effort, but through shared commitment and trust within the community.

A Shared Mission of Care
As the LAB for All events in Marikina and Santa Rosa came to a close, what lingered was not just the delivery of services, but the lasting impact on the people served.
Mothers left reassured. Families received long-delayed medical attention. Communities were reminded that healthcare, when made accessible and compassionate, can change lives in quiet but profound ways.
In these moments, “Kaagapay sa Kalinga” became more than a phrase. It was felt in every consultation, every helping hand, and every medicine given without hesitation.
For Evelyn and many others, the message was clear: care, when it comes at the right time, can make all the difference.
