From Homes to Market Stalls, Bell-Kenz Foundation Extends Flood Aid

Relief packs and medicine support Quezon City residents and vendors facing the effects of Habagat flooding.

For vendors at Roxas Public Market, keeping their stalls stocked can mean making their way through floodwaters to purchase and transport goods. For residents of nearby flood-prone communities, the same rains bring urgent needs closer to home.

These were among the concerns behind Bell-Kenz Foundation Inc.’s (BKFI) donation of 100 relief packs and 30 boxes of doxycycline on September 11, for communities affected by Habagat flooding in Quezon City.

The foundation turned over 100 relief packs and 20 boxes of doxycycline to District 4 Councilor Raquel S. Malañgen for distribution to residents of Barangay Doña Imelda who were severely affected by the floods.

The relief packs were intended to help meet residents’ immediate needs, while the medicine donation supported local leptospirosis prevention efforts.

On the same day, BKFI donated another 10 boxes of doxycycline, containing 1,000 capsules, to Barangay Roxas. The medicines were intended for Roxas Public Market vendors and residents of Gumamela Street, which regularly experiences severe flooding during the rainy season.

For these communities, exposure to floodwaters is a recurring concern. Vendors encounter it while moving goods for their livelihoods, while residents face it in the streets around their homes.

Through the donations, BKFI sought to bring essential assistance closer to both—recognizing that the needs brought by flooding extend from households to the places where people earn their living.
